The use of symbols is an integral part of any religion, and this design takes symbolism a step further by making the building itself the most holy symbol of Christianity. Churches are always looking for ways to engage the modern audience; to make an ancient religion relevant to the current lifestyle. This frequently manifests itself as the desire to provide services to a variety of demographics. Some churches hold both a “traditional service,” complete with classic hymns and deep theological sermons, and a separate “contemporary service” with modern pop-esque worship songs

The use of symbols is an integral part of any religion, and this design takes symbolism a step further by making the building itself into the holiest symbol of Christianity. The Cross rises out of the cityscape, somehow both integrated with its surroundings, and wholly set apart. A beacon to the faithful.

Churches are always looking for ways to engage the modern audience; to make an ancient religion relevant to the current lifestyle. This frequently manifests itself as the desire to provide services to a variety of demographics. Some churches hold both a “traditional service,” complete with classic hymns and deep theological sermons and a separate contemporary service” with modern pop-esque worship songs. One of the unique aspects of the Risen Church is its layered design, allowing multiple activities, catering to different ages and ideologies, to occur all at once. With sufficient rooms for young children to have their own classes and two services to occur simultaneously, this is a church designed for the future of religion as it continues to adapt to a transforming congregation.
